چکیده

Abstract The healthy growth and maintenance of a biological system depends on the precise spatial organization molecules within cell through dissipation energy. Reaction–diffusion mechanisms can facilitate this organization, as directional cargo transport orchestrated by motor proteins, relying specific protein interactions. However, material also be achieved active processes based non-specific, purely physical mechanisms, phenomenon that remains poorly explored. Here, using combined experimental theoretical approach, we discover describe hidden function Escherichia coli MinDE system: in addition to forming dynamic patterns, accomplishes functionally unrelated membranes. Remarkably, mechanism enables sorting diffusive objects according their effective size, evidenced modular DNA origami–streptavidin nanostructures. We show fluxes non-specific couple via density-dependent friction. This process constitutes diffusiophoretic mechanism, yet unknown biology setting. nonlinear coupling between could represent generic for establishing intracellular organization.

Catch bond mechanism in Dynein motor driven collective transport

Recent experiments have demonstrated that dynein motor exhibits catch bonding behaviour, in which the unbinding rate of a single dynein decreases with increasing force, for a certain range of force. Motivated by these experiments, we propose a model for catch bonding in dynein using a threshold force bond deformation (TFBD) model wherein catch bonding sets in beyond a critical applied load forc...

ATP synthesis driven by proton transport in F1F0-ATP synthase.

Topical questions in ATP synthase research are: (1) how do protons cause subunit rotation and how does rotation generate ATP synthesis from ADP+Pi? (2) How does hydrolysis of ATP generate subunit rotation and how does rotation bring about uphill transport of protons? The finding that ATP synthase is not just an enzyme but rather a unique nanomotor is attracting a diverse group of researchers ke...

A Motor-Driven Mechanism for Cell-Length Sensing

Size homeostasis is fundamental in cell biology, but it is not clear how large cells such as neurons can assess their own size or length. We examined a role for molecular motors in intracellular length sensing.Computational simulations suggest that spatial information can be encoded by the frequency of an oscillating retrograde signal arising from a composite negative feedback loop between bidi...

The ATP-driven protein translocation-motor of mitochondria

The majority of mitochondrial proteins are encoded in the nucleus. In the cytosol they are synthesized as precursor proteins which are transported into mitochondria. Protein import into mitochondria requires a concerted action of a variety of different proteins. For the transport of precursor proteins across the mitochondrial inner membrane and their folding in the matrix the mitochondrial hsp7...
